Back to School

It's that time again! The kids are back to school. Today was their first day.

Kyra is a Freshman this year and Sean is a Junior. I can't believe that Kyra is starting High School.

Will be a busy year for both of them. Sean needs to work on scholarships this year.

And Kyra wants to join a couple of clubs at school. (Art club and the Pep club)

Then there will be softball coming up. I think I will be running around a lot......

Here is my latest project I am working on. It will be a solid purple afghan. I had a request from someone to make this one. :) I just love this purple color that she picked out.

And here is a project I finished awhile ago. :) Some old fashioned potholders. I used up some of my scrap cotton to make these ones up. I have plans to make more when I have enough scraps and time.

I hope that everyone had a great summer! I know that ours was busy with many different activities happening.

Hello Rainy Day!

It has been a cloudy and rainy day today. The rain has come off and on all day. A really nice day after all the high heat we have been dealing with. Was near 100 most of the week. Too hot to really be outside.

A recent project. Just a regular granny square afghan. Love making these from time to time.

I am making another one simular to this one. Only I am using grey and yellow in place of the pink/ mauve in this one.

We have had a really hot summer so far. How about everyone else?

Stormy Friday

We had a pretty bad storm blow through last night. Ended up with us sitting in the hallway for awhile, away from all the windows. Fortunately it passed by and we are all ok here. And today; it is storming all over again. All though so far just a normal thunderstorm. Nothing severe yet. Hoping with all this stormy weather we don't lose anymore trees. Was really sad when the apple tree came down awhile ago. But we are glad to see that it is attempting to come back.

So with all the rain coming down outside...... I am working on this. A cute little baby dress. Sorry about the picture, but it is rather dark outside. It seems to be a really easy dress to make. I found the pattern on Ravelry. You can find the pattern here . This one is coming out bigger than I had hoped. So I think I will be making another one after this one is done. But I will be using a baby yarn instead. The pattern called for WW, aran or bulky and H or I hook. So, I think I will use an F or a G hook with the baby yarn. :)

This is a set of flower dishcloths I made a little while ago. They were super fast. :) The pattern for this was one of those free tear off sheats at Micheals.

Here is my Spun Sugar Round Ripple. I just finished this one recently. I used scraps of purple, pink and blue in this one. The white is I Love this Yarn in Antique White and the Varrigated is I Love this yarn in Spun Sugar. So that is what gave this afghan its name. This one is a gift for someone . :) ( I can't say who in case they read my blog)

And here is the Sugar Plum Ripple all finished up. Yay! I am really happy with the overall look of this one. I had to rip it out a few times to get the look I was wanting. :)

This was a birthday gift for a friend. I decided to wrap it with a usable item rather that disposable gift wrap. :) And she loved it. YAY! I think I might try this idea with more gifts. I made a dish towell and used it to wrap the mug that I gave a friend for her birthday. :)

And finally, here is a baby bib with a matching burp towell. These were a lot of fun to make. I have made a few more burp towells since. And I am hoping to get a few more bibs done soon. :)

We recently had some really bad storms come through NC. Here is a picture of some of the hail we received. We were fortunate that we had no damage here with the storms that came through last weekend.

The hail picture is from the storm that we had come through two weeks ago. Today is looking like it will be a beautiful day in the 80's....... And they are telling us we have another round of storms coming in this week. Seems like it is going to be a bad year for spring storms.

My Newest Round Ripple.

I started a new round ripple. This one seems to be more of spring colors. So I am calling it My Spring Round Ripple. I will be adding some white next and then a round of the verrigated again. After that I will be adding some green that matches the green in the verrigated. :)

Cookies and Cream

I found a really cute cookbook at the store recently for cupcakes and cakes. So I tried some of thm out. Above is the cookies and cream.. It is made with chocolate cake mix, oreao cookies, white frosting and marshmallow cream. There is also a cream filled center. :) YUM!

Tie Dye Cupcakes

I aslo tried out the Tie Dye cupcakes. :) They were a lot of fun to make. I used white cake mix and a lot of food coloring.

So here it is!! All finished. YAY! I finally added the last few rows needed to finish this afghan. I love it!

There are more pictures on my facebook page and in my Etsy shop. I will be starting another ripple afghan soon. But this new one has planned out colors.

The latest update on my Blended Scraps Ripple Afghan. I just finished adding the reds. :)

This afghan is almost done. YAY!!

Here is something completly new to me. The above project is freeform crochet. There is a group on Ravelry that is doing this. Each day we get a new set of instructions to follow. And each day is also done by a different person. Has been fun so far. And ?I have no idea what the final outcome will be on this project...

Today was softball tryouts for Kyra. :) We should get a call sometime tomorrow to let us know which team she will be on. We are looking forward to softball season starting up again. :)

Finished Some more dishcloths

I finished some more dishcloths. This is my 2nd set with cotton and thread together. I wanted to give them a more finished looking edge. I am much happier with them now. You can get the pattern for them here. I am working on another dishcloth using white cotton and burgandy thread. Looks interesting. LOL! I wish I could find a size 10 thread in yellow here. But so far no luck. :(
I don't have any new pictures of the Blended Scraps Ripple right now. But I have started the next section. I am doing reds now. :) Hopfully will have a new picture to share later this week.

I am not always working on afghans. LOL!

Here is one of my newest dishcloths. I used one strand of 100% WW cotton in white and one strand of crochet thread in Orchird pink to make the above dishcloth. I added the thread hoping that it would give them better scrubbing power. :)

Here is another one using the same pattern. The only difference is that I used a Frosty green thread instead of the pink. On these dishcloths I also included a loop so that they could be hung up.

This is a prayer shawl that I am working on. I am using Bernat Kashmere in Pink for this one. I really love that yarn and wish that they still made it. It is super soft.

Blended Scraps Ripple

Here is the newest update on the Blended Scraps Ripple. I am around halfway done with it now. :)

I think I will be adding the browns next.

Looking at the pictures, it shows I had a lot of different shades of blue. But not so much of the other colors.

I received an unexpected package in the mail yesterday. :) It was from my mom. She sent me the beautiful knit dishcloth you see above. And it is in the colors we are using in our kitchen. So cool. :) The picture dosn't show it very well, but that is red and orange. :)

My mom is also a very crafty person, but does more crafts than I can/know how to do. She also does counted cross stitch, crochet,sewing, and quilting. :)

Along with the dishcloth she sent a set of Balane hooks for my daughter Kyra. :)

I added the greens. It sure makes a change to the look of this afghan.

Here is a picture showing the colors better. :) I am again adding 4 rows of aran after the green. I think my next set of colors will be purple, or brown.

We have been enjoying some beautiful weather the last couple of days. Yesterday we hit 70. I don't think we will make it to 70 again today. But the 60's are still good. They say on Friday we will hit the mid 70's. Yay :) Maybe spring is finally here.....

Blended Scraps Ripple

I started another project. :)

I am making another ripple afghan. This one will also be made from yarns that I have on hand.

I started out with 4 rows of Aran, then added 2 rows of each color of blue I had.(Well the ones I have in sight. LOL! I have a bunch of yarn in the attic still)

I really like the way the blues blended together here. I have added on since this picture. I added one more blue color.. Then I added 4 more rows of Aran. My next set of colors will be greens.

YAY!! I finsihed the Ribbon afghan today! I am so happy with it. :)

I added just a plain white border. No fancy stitches. I wanted the colors to stand out in this one and didn't want the border to take away from them.

Ribbon Afghan Update!

I am moving right along on this one again. :) I am getting close to being finished. I think. LOL! Will be adding several more rows and then adding a few rounds to the edging. I do believe after looking at it a lot, I will be finishing it off with the white. :) I really do love all the fun colors in this one. And I can see I will still have a lot of those colors left over when this afghan is finished. So I need to figure out what I will make with what is left after this. Maybe a hexagon blanket? Or maybe another ripple of some sort. Choices. LOL

Friday is here!

So Friday is finally here! But we have a very busy weekend ahead of us.

As you can see above I was able to add a little more work to the ribbon afghan.

I found another darker purple and decided to go ahead and add it in as well. So far I think I like the addition.

For those of you thinking about making this.... And you are worried about weaving in all those ends...

Heres an idea for you. Instead of worry about weaving in the ends. What about turning them in too fringe?

The actual pattern does not include aborder. I am just going to add one on. So, if you like afghans with fringe it wouldn't be such a task at the end. Or if you don't want the fringe, just crochet the ends in as you go. I could have done that. LOL! But I decided to wait.

Even though I wasn't going too.... I did start yet another project.... I found some really pretty purple Kashmere and decided to make another Prayer Shawl. I didn't have enough of the purple so I added in some white. This one will be going to a friend of mine at church. Her favorite color is purple.

I do like this yarn, it is super soft. Unfortunatly Bernat discontinued it. :( Luckily before it was gone, I did get a bunch of it. I just never thought to get a larger amount of each of the colors. Next time I will know better. :)

Ribbon Afghan Update!

Now that the Prayer Shawl is done, I was able to pick up the Ribbon afghan again. Yay! This one is so much fun with all of the colors. :) I have decided that I will just crochet all those ends in when I add the border to this afghan. The question is...... What color should the border be? Aran? White? Or should I add a black border? I really am not sure what I want to do. I was orignally thinking the Aran. But then I added some white into the stripes and thought it was really pretty. And the black would make all the colors stand out. BUT, would the black take away from the overall effect of colors in it now?

Here is a different angle to show you all the colors that are in the afghan. I did decide to add another color into it. I will be added another shade of brown to it today. :) Can't wait to see how it will look in there.

And this is a gift I received for Christmas. What a great gift it is. Loads of room to store my yarn and project. And there are a lot of pockets to put things into as well. :) Right now I have all the yarn for the Ribbon afghan in there. It fits in perfectly.

So the plan was to atleast finish off one of the three projects I have been working on BEFORE starting another one..... Well...... That didn't happen. Something has come up and I am working on a new project. But... It is for a good reason. :)

Above you can see a closer view of the project I am working on. It is a prayer shawl.

We have a special event coming up at church next weekend. And we will be decorating in a winter theme.

So I am using Bernat Softee in Pale Blue and Baby Denim Marl. I am making it with two strands held together.

And... To go along with the fact that I started a new project. I also had to buy a skein of yarn. LOL! I needed the pale blue to go with the Denim Marl I am using in this shawl. I really didn't want to have to buy any more yarn. But this was needed to finish the project. Atleast it is going to get used up right away. :)

Granny Ripple!

Just love this afghan! So easy to work up. About to be at the halfway point with this one now. Then to add an edging to it. :) I am using Red Heart yarn in Aran, Med Thyme, and Windsor Blue. I am making it 3 rows of Aran and then 5 rows each of Windsor Blue and Med Thyme.

Ribbon Afghan!

This one is also a lot of fun to make. :) Such an easy pattern. Once you have the first couple of rows done, its just a repeat the rest of the way through. I am not sure of all the names of the colors in this one. I am just using up a lot of my stash yarn for it.

I have another skein of a brown color, that I am considering adding to the mix in this one. I have two shades of brown in it now, and Aran. I have tons of skeins of Aran. So I guess I will be using that in a lot of my scrap along projects.

I have not done any more work on the scarf I posted about earlier. I will get back to it again soon. :) Been really wanting to work on these two afghans.....

Back to School :)

The kids were finally able to go back to school today. They were out all week last week due to snow and ice. Kyra was happy to go back and see her friends at school. Sean on the other hand, was not to thrilled. He has exams to make up now.

This afghan isn't as wide as I normally do, so I think I will be adding an edging to it when I get finished. I am aiming for it to fit a twin sized bed.

I was able to get a lot done on the Ribbon afghan this weekend. :)

This pretty much shows all the colors I am using in this afghan. I may add another shade of brown. A medium color brown color.

Its finally looking like the kids will be able to go back to school again. Hopfully tomorrow. Sean has exams to make up when he goes back. A week off from school is going to be a little tough to make up. Kyra dosn't have any tests to make up, but she will be starting 2nd semester classes soon.

Still Snowy & Icy

Some of the Ice hanging off of our roof. It is melting this afternoon though. Hopfully we will have clear roads here realyl soon. Part of our road is still a sheet of ice. But I was able to get out today. Lucky for us, we have two entrances on our driveway. One goes to the part of the road that is still solid ice. The other entrance is mostly clear. Once I got off of our street, the roads to the store were fine.

It was pretty easy to follow. I made a few changes to them as I went along. And they are now heading to my Aunt in Michigan. :) Hopfully she likes them really well.

Still on a Snow Break

So we are still on an extended weekend here. The snow turned to freezing rain/drizzle on Monday night. So we woke up to an icy mess on Tuesday morning. It started to melt during the afternoon only to refreeze overnight. It looks to be melting out there today. So maybe, just maybe the kids can go back to school tomorrow. We will just have to wait and see. I certainly hope it melts soon... I would like to get out of the house again. :)

Here is the latest update on my Ribbon afghan. I am still enjoying this one. :) So many pretty colors in it allready. And if I find some more I like, I may add to it as I go along. I decided to add a few random rows of white in there to break up the colors. As for the rest of the colors, I don't really have a set pattern as to how I add them in. Just putting them in where I think they look nice. :)

Snow Day!!!!!!

This is what I woke up to at 5:30 in the morning. Sure is beautiful outside... But from what I hear the driving is rough. I don't need to go anywhere, so I am staying home and off the roads. The kids are out of school for today. From the sounds of the weather reports, they will be out tomorrow as well. They are saying that we will be getting some freezing drizzle later and the temps are going to drop into the teens overnight.

I took this picture around 10am this morning. As of noon we were at 6 inches of snow. And it is still snowing out. This is a huge event for us. LOL!

And of course I didn't want to leave out crochet ......... Here is an updated photo of the Ribbon Afghan I have been working on. This afghan has been a lot of fun to work on so far.

Setting Some Goals!

With the New Year here! It is time to set some goals! And one of my goals is to use up all the yarn I have. :)

I have collected a lot of yarn. LOL! And it needs to be used up. So below you see my first 3 projects of 2011. Both afghans are being made up from stash yarn only. :)

This is my ribbon afghan. I am using up the yarn that was left from Kyra's ripple afghan. But I have also found a few more colors I had on hand to use on it as well. The pattern for this afghan can be found at The aventures of the Gingerbread Lady Blog. This pattern looks like it will be a great way to use up a bunch of yarn :)

This is my Granny Ripple Afghan. This pattern can be found at Ravelry. I have a few skeins of the green and blue in my stash as well as the soft white. :) Hopefully there is enough to make a medium sized afghan.

My final project is a scarf. The red strip is done, except for weaving in the ends. the white strip is barly started. the white strip will eventually interlock with the red strip, and then I will be adding a strip of black.
This I am making from yarn that my dad and step mom gave me. They came up for a visit recently and brought me a rubbermade tote full of yarn. Most of it is red, black and white which are the school colors for where they live.

Hello Again :)

The Holidays are over, the kids are back in school... Life is getting back to normal again. Or not :)

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas.

We had a White Christmas here this year. It is the first one we have had here in 60 years according to the news. It was beautiful. :) It only lasted a few days before it melted all away.

Here is my latest finished project. This ripple afghan is for my daughter. She is always trying to take the afghans that I have been working on for others. So, I am surprising her with one of her own. :)

This afghan has been a thorn in my side for months. I had to restart it soooooo many times because it just wasn't quite right. I am so happy to finally have it done now.

Ok, so back to trying to dry out my carpet... We had a flood yesterday. What an awful day it was.... So glad it is over and we have a fresh new start today. I guess the good thing about the flood... The carpet is now getting cleaned. LOL!

The Monster Scrappy is Finally Finished. YAY!!! I allready have it on the bed. :)

Here is a close up showing the edging that I did.

I am so glad to have this Monster of a project done :) I used up a lot of odd skeins and partial skeins of yarn. I still have a lot more to use up. So maybe I will do another Scrappy Granny Stripe. But the next one will not be as big. LOL!

Monster Scrappy

I have been working on this one again. :) It is almost done. I am working on the edging now.

I did 2 rounds of sc. And the final round, I am sl st in st, ch 1 sl st in next st ch 1.

I am using black for the edging.

This afghan has a nice overhang on both sides. :) Which is exactly what I wanted. I can't wait to have it done so we can use it. :)

Hello Monday!

I know it has been awhile. It has been a tough week. Glad to finally be starting a new week. :)

I have not been spending much time on any of my crochet projects this past week. So above you can see a small amount of progress on the the Crazy Scraps Afghan. :) Not really sure how much bigger I will be making this one.

I have picked up the Monster Afghan again, but no pictures to share yet. It is almost done. YAY!!!!!

We could really use it now as the temps have dropped. We have been dropping into the upper 20's lows 30's at night time. Although rumer is..... 70's during the day by midweek. Can we all say Cold and Flu Season. LOL! I can see it coming now. We are all going to catch a cold with these changes.

Took this picture of a tree outside my front window. The tree looked so pretty with all of its red leaves.

Over the weekend, the wind picked up and the leaves are pretty much gone. :( Its time to get out there and rake up the leaves. And we sure do have a lot of them to rake up. :)

WIP Wednesday

Look at what I found.. I was organizing some of my stash recently and ran across this in the box. So.... Here we go with another WIP. There are a ton of different colors in this one. The weather is not cooperating with me right now so this picture looks a little dull. But in real life this afghan is more vibrant. It will probably be a few days before the weather is nice and I can get a better picture. We have been having some stormy weather since last evening. With this afghan I have been using up all of my super small balls of scrap yarn . So there are a ton of color changes in this one.

Here is another project I am working on. I promised my Aunt that I would make her some gloves in excahnge for the antique patterns she sent me. Originally she wanted some gloves from one of the patterns she sent. They were beautiful gloves, but done in thread. And I have such a hard time working with thread. I did try to make them, but just couldn't get them right. Then I found these gloves at Red Heart Yarns.

They are called texting gloves. I am using baby yarn to make them with. It is a really pretty pale blue color with soft stripes of white in it. Although you can't tell that in the picture. They are super cute gloves. There is a flip top on the thumb and index finger of both gloves. So if you want to use your fingers you flip the tops off. :) Really cool. :)

Fiber on Friday- Monster Scrappy- Almost done :)

I can see it!!! The final is coming up on this one. :) I just added some Taupe to the monster scrappy. And I am thinking I will only need one more skein to finish this one up. Then I will add a border.I have no idea what color to do the border in though. I worked hard on this one yesterday as the weather is getting cooler at night. We are still hitting the 70's and 80's during the daytime though.

Its Back!! LOL! I picked up the monster scrappy again. :) The latest addition is a grey color. I am finally in the home stretch now with this one. YAY!!!!

Fiber Friday- A couple little projects.

I made up a couple more pumpkins in some non traditional colors. Looking at this picture though, the colors make them look more like apples. Hmmm! I think I need to keep working on these. Maybe I can make up a little basket of fruits and veggies. That would be neat. :) I have not been following a pattern on these so they don't all come out exactly the same. The rose one is made with Red Heart yarn in Cafe brown, Paddy Green and Light Raspberry. The green one, I used what was left from the hat. It is Loops and Threads in Fern Greeen, Red Heart in Cafe Brown and Paddy Green

I also finished off another set of Dishcloths. I used my own pattern for these.

I used peaches and cream cotton in Bright Navey, Burgandy,Ecru and Cranberry Blues.

These are a for a friend from church. :)

And lastly, here is Sean! FINALLY was able to get another photo of him. He really dislikes me taking pictures. LOL! I picked up a new craft to try out. It is a knitting Loom. I think I need to go back and get one of the round ones. :) He is working on the start of a scarf in this picture. :)

I finished off another hat. This hat is an original design by Kristine Mullen. You can find the pattern in her Etsy shop. I used Loops and Threads yarn in Fern Green. I found this yarn at Micheals.

The latest on the Round Ripple. This one is almost done now. I am going to finish this burgandy and then add another dark green. I think that will make it big enough. Right now it is 55 inches from point to point.

The weather here has been quite warm. We are back up in the upper 80's again. I had really thought that fall was finally here. But summer just had to send us one more big blast. It looks like it won't last for too long though. We have some rain and possable storms heading out way this week. Even thought it feels like summer outside, I am trying to think fall. :) So here are some of the projects that are helping me to think fall.....

I made some more pumpkins. These ones I made in pumpkin orange and paddy green.

I think I am going to try making some leaves next. :) I made these little pumpkins up so there is no pattern at this time.

I made this hat the other day. I found the pattern online. It is a really simple and quick to make hat.

And here is another picture of the pumpkin flower. This hot pad is about 10 inches. :) So it is quite big.

Will look great on the table for the Fall season. :) The pattern can be found at Annies Attic in "The Ultimate Potholders" book. :)

Remember this? I hadn't worked on it for awhile, so I wasn't showing any pictures.

I finally added several more rounds too it. Once I finish with this green I am going to add

a soft white, and then some of the darker colrs again. I have plans to give this one as a Christmas gift to someone in my family.

Here is the Monster Scrappy..... I didn't get too much done on it. But I still wanted to show a picture of the progress. I have been working on pumpkins and fall colored items the last week. :) Looking at this picture with the ends hanging out reminds me..... I still have to weave those things in. Yuck!!!

And one last photo... Kyra all dressed up for Nerd day. :)

She had a great time at school except for the kids snapping her suspenders. LOL!

I just created these two cute little pumpkins. I think they will make some cute centerpieces on a Fall table.

I didn't use a pattern for these, so they are not exactly a like. But, I figured no two pumpkins are exactly alike anyway. :)

Here is another pumpkin coaster. This one is slightly different from the first one.

I made another hat. This one is called the "Pat" hat. It is also a design by Danyel Pink. This one is not quite finished. I still need to add the buttons to it.

October Is here with a blast......

October is here.... And we woke up to a very cool 40 degrees, with a high of only 67. What a change!!

I do love the cooler days. But I am not ready to turn the heat on just yet.

Above is my pumpkin coaster I worked on. I am trying to work out a pattern to go with it. :)

Anyone want to try it out and see if it makes sence to them?

A different view of the Monster Scrappy Blanket.

It is 108 inches wide. The length is currently 50 inches. This thing is huge. :) But it will be so warm on my bed when it is finally finished. And with the nights being much cooler, we sure could use it now.

Here is Kyra wearing her glasses. No, they aren't real. We bought these as part of her outfit for school today. She dressed up as a Nerd. :) She made a pretty cute nerd if you ask me. :)

A finished project!!!!

My not so little girl modeled this one for me. :) I made this one in two shades of purple

Ms Kyra has decided she makes a pretty good model. :)

Here it is!!!! The monster Scrappy.

No, not finished yet. But I have made some good progress on it.

And I have added to it since this picture. The color I added after the purple is Aran.

I really love this blanket. And now that I am just a bit beyond the half way point, it looks like I will finish it someday. LOL!

I have put both of my other afghan projects away for now. I am really wanting to get this one done.

The weather is getting cooler finally; so it would be nice to have this on the bed. :)

Yesterday was a beautiful day! So glad to be able to finally have the house open and letting in the fresh air. :)

Today, we are getting some more rain. The rain is much needed, so this is a good thing.

And here are a couple of photos from Kyra's softball game last night. She hit a double on this one. Yay!

They didn't win the game, but the girls played well.

Busy Weekend and a Rainy day :)

This is the only project I worked on this weekend. We were busy all weekend.
This is the Lyn hat by Danyel Pink. I tested the pattern out for her. It is really cute and has some nice texture to it. And the pattern was easy to understand and follow. I made this hat in a color called Frsoty Green. It is a really pretty color in person. :) I think I will be making several more of these.

                       This weekedn was a busy one for us. Bob and I were chaperones for our Youth Group at Carowinds Theme Park. We each had a group of 5 teenagers. And with a lot of rides to choose from- well it was just crazy running all over the place. And, it was hot on top of that.
And then on Sunday, we had Youth after church at our house. So we had a large group of teens over along with several parents. :) It was a lot of fun having everyone over. :)
   We finally received some rain. It rained all day yesterday. And with that system coming in, I was finally able to turn the air off. I have the windows open and letting all the fresh air in. :) Love this time of year.
I have done some more work on the Monster Scrappy; so I should have some new pictures to share tomorrow. I am really liking this one a lot. I can't wait to get it finished and put it on my bed.

Here we go with the Monster Scrappy. Since I have been working on dishcloths, there isn't much progress on this one. I am adding a rose color next. I think I need to add some more aran or off white to it soon. This thing is huge and akward to work on. LOL!

Fall ?

Can you see the small touches of color in the tree? Fall officially starts at 11:09 pm Wednesday.

But it sure dosn't feel like it here. Atleast not during the day. We are still hitting the low 90's. Was 93 out yesterday. And we are close to hitting a record here. The record was 88 days at 90 or above during the summer. Right now we are sitting at 82 days. We shall see what happens..

I am really hoping for a cool down soon. I am really ready for Fall.

A couple more pictures of the trees. I don't think you can really see any of the touches of color in these last two.

I have been working on some new dishcloths. Here is what I have finished so far. Can you tell I have been thinking about fall? :) The dishcloths are done using my own design. The colors are Country Red, Sunburst Orange, Gold, Jute and Celery.

And here are some coasters I finished also. These are made from my own design as well.

The colors I used for these are Lilac and Tangerine.

Kyra's Shawl, and hair cut :)

Not too much progress to report on the Shawl. But there it is. :)

I am not following a pattern for this one. So hopefully it will turn out looking like a shawl.

Once I finish the length on it, I need to add a hood. I have the idea in my head how to do the hood. Just hope that when I actully work it out that it looks like what is pictured in my head. I will try and get the next pictures with Kyra in them. So everyone can see what it looks like wrapped on someone. :)

The after shot.. Finally was able to get Kyra in to see Jenna. And just in time since school pictures are tomorrow. Kyra has been anxious to get her hair cut. She has been wanting to have some bangs. Although in this picture it is a little hard to tell that she has them. Jenna only cut a side swipe of bangs;which is what Kyra wanted. And they blend into her hair also. It actully turned out really cute. :)

Softball, new project?

Yay! Softball has started again. The picture above was from Warm ups.

Benny, as always was picking on Kyra. LOL!

First time putting on the catching gear.

This picture is a little weird. Not sure if you can really see her big grin. Kyra was very excited about being the catcher.

A few more photos from practice. There first game is Monday night. Should be fun. :)

This year her team name is Ironton Animal Hospital. They will have red uniforms again.

Last spring she wore red also. :) Her coach this year is new to the Pony Tail League.

And here it is the yarn for the next project. LOL! I have been thinking about Fall and put all these colors together to make another afghan. Although, I am thinkign I may change that blue out for a teal instead.

I have not started on this project yet. I need to finish up a couple others first.

Kyra's shawl is coming along and I will have a new picture soon to share.

Here is an updated photo of the shawl for Kyra. I ripped out what I had originally done. It just wasn't quite right and it wasn't big enough. So hopfully this time around it will work out better. Kyra is very anxious for me to get this one done.

The Monster Scrappy is growing. I have added some yellow and another shade of blue. :) It is getting closer to the halfway point. Yay :)

The weather is finally starting to cool down at night. So I really need to kick it into high gear on this project.

Ahh! Yes, the ripples..... I have put those two projects aside as I really want to get this Granny Stripe finished for my bed. And I also want to get this shawl finished for Kyra. I will pick up working on them again soon. :)

The last couple of days have been beautiful outside. Far better than those days in the upper 90's and low 100's. Maybe fall really is just around the corner. :) Yesterday was the start of the Fall Softball season. Kyra was working on being the catcher for her team last night. Thursday she will be putting on all the gear and trying it out again. So its looking like her and Bree will be the catchers for there team. Her coach is also trying to decide if he wants her on 2nd or 3rd base. So we will see how it goes. Normally she plays centerfield.

A visitor

Look at who came for a visit. I found him hanging around my patio door a couple days ago. Eww, he hung around for most of the day. And when I got up the next morning he was gone.

Here is another view of him. I didn't know what he was at first. But found out later it is a yellow garden spider.

It is cooling off around here now. And its quite cloudy today. Looks like we will be getting some rain soon.
These pictures are from the front Lawn.

And here are a couple pictures of Kyra's shawl. I have had to rip it out a few times allready. But I think I have a good start on it now. I am trying to write it down as I go and maybe later I will have a pattern to go with it. I am using a WW yarn for it. The part in the picture will be at the neckline. I am going to widen it a little at a time as the length gets longer. I will add the hooded part on at the end. And I am thinking about making some ties for the top part. Kyra saw another one she likes that has buttons on the front so I may have to make another one if this one works out.

Summers Dream Round Ripple

I have done a little bit of work on the round ripple. It still has a ways to go before it will be finished. It has been interesting working on it. I start the new color wherever the old color ends off. So in some places the colors look choppy. It will be a unique afghan when it is finally done. :)

The big one! Here is the Monster Scrappy... This thing is getting huge. And this picture is allready outdated. LOL! I added yellow after the blue that you see here. IT is a pale yellow. I am thinking about a burnt orange color for it soon.

Kyra has made a special request. We have been watching Dr Quinn together all summer. Dorothy, one of the characters in the show always wears these neat crocheted shawls. In the 6th season she wears this nice looking black one with a big hood on it. Kyra, would like me to make one for her. So now I am in the process of trying to figure out a pattern for it. Hopefully I can figure out something soon so she can wear it when the weather actully cools down some. Its still in the 90's here.

And for Sean, he would like a new hat. So I think I
will make him a sk8ter hat. :)
So far school has been going well for both of them. Sean normally comes home with a pile of homework. Keeping him busy.........

Monster Scrappy Granny Stripe

I have done some more work on the Granny Stripe. I was originally planning to add a pale yellow next. But I found a lighter shade of green and decided to add that color next instead. And so long as I don't change my mind again, I will be adding a dark blue next. I still have a long way to go before this will be big enough for my bed. :)

I have picked up my darker ripple again. I needed a break from the lighter one. So here we are with a new progress photo. It is almost halfway done. This one is actully smaller than the lighter one. Although looking at his picture I am not sure if you can tell. I can tell because it dosn't take me as long to crochet a row. LOL!!

One more view of it. :) I really like these colors. Bold and bright.

Ahh Yes! Here is the Monster Scrappy. No real progress to report here. I just started the newest color which is a Hunter green.And laying it across my bed, you can see it has a long way to go before it will fit nicly. But once finished, it will keep me warm this winter. :) (Well, if I get it finished this winter, that is. )

I found a pale yellow color to add after the green. Then who knows what will be next......

Choices!!!

Ok here is where I am now. I just finished off the pink. But now I am thinking about changing it up. Not the color sequence........ But instead of having a traditional ripple that goes across.... I was thinking about flipping it. I would add a border that would make the edges straight.

Here is a picture of it flipped the other way. It still pretty much fits my bed. I am thinking if I do flip it, I would add a white border to it.

Ok, flipped it back again. Choices!! I actully like it both ways. If I leave it like this I will still need to add several more rows.

Ok last view of it being flipped again. LOL! If I leave it this way, I won't need to add any more rows. Just need the pretty border to finish it off.

Hello Monday!

So here we are at Monday again..... The weekends always fly by so fast.... This weekend we spent Sat afternoon working on the lawn. It was in need of a mowing. I also spent a little time working on the afghan. BUT!! Yes, I said it.... But, I ran across a problem. Oh No! I found that several rows back I had somehow added an extra row of the green and an extra row of the purple. So I had to rip out several rows. But I have since been able to add them back in.

It looks like we are heading into another heat wave this week.....Glad we were able to get outside this weekend and do some of the outside things while it was cool enough. Although who knows... Maybe Hurricane Earl will blow some cool breezes our way Thursday....

Here is the latest on one of my ripples I have been working on. In this picture I have it laying across my bed.

I have only added a couple of rows to it.

From here it looks to be halfway done. Yay! Would really like to finish this one up soon.

Here is my progress on the Monster Scrappy. :) I just started with a dark green. You can barly see it in the upper right corner there. The color before that was tan. I am still really happy with this one. And I can't wait till I get it finished and can use it on the bed.

Here is the Summers Dream Round Ripple. Although the colors I used really do not represent summertime. :) I have a little bit of the tan left from the Monster Scrappy so I will be adding that color next.

Today when I went to pick up Seans prescription I saw this pretty plant. So I brought it home with me. I think it will look great hanging up in the Livingroom.

First Day of School!!!

It is back to school day!!! And the kids were very excited to head out the door. Kyra was up at 5am..... She was ready to head to the bus stop by 6am. LOL! But the bus dosn't get here untill after 6:30. And with this being the first week of school...... Its hard to tell what time the bus will get here. Anywhere between 6:30 and 7:30.

Last Day of Summer Vacation

I have a lot of odd skeins of yarn. And I really need a large blanket to put on my bed for when it is cold outside. So I am making a Monster Scrappy Granny Stripe afghan. I am using a size I hook and started out with a chain of 231. It measures 94.5 inches acroos. It fits my bed with plenty of over hang on both sides. Which is exactly what I was wanting. I have a feeling this one is going to take me awhile to make. LOL! Especially since I also have those two ripple afghans I am working on. With these 3 large projects, plus another one, I will show you later in this post; I should be kept plenty busy.

With this afghan I started out with a color named Cafe. It is a really pretty brown. The second color is winter white, and the third color is Claret. I am not sure what color will be next. I will just grab a light color out of the box when I am ready.

Here is my birthday present from my husband. We went to a local shop here in town that sells a lot of Antiques. This Dresser was built by Atlas Furniture Company, Jamestowne New York in the 1920's. It also has a Mirror that sits on top of it. I am cleaning it up right now. But will soon be moving it to my bedroom. I will share more pictures of it when it is all put together. :)

And as promised....... Here is the other project I am working on. I wasn't actully planning to do this one. But a good friend asked if I would test out her new pattern. So of course, I said yes. So my plan for this one is to use the leftovers from the monster afghan posted above. Since I want to end the colors at the end of each row and not somewhere in the middle, I knew I would have small balls of yarn left. So instead of hanging onto them... I will use them in this. :) For this round ripple, I will use the color untill I run out and just add the next color. So I am sure its going to be quite unique. :)

Here is Mr Sean enjoying a slice of pizza..... Summer vacation ends today, and they go back to school tomorrow. And tomorrow is going to be a bit of a rough day for them. LOL! They have been sleeping in all summer long... And now, they have to be up at 6am.. Although Kyra has decided she needs to get up at 5am. Good thing she has her own alarm clock. Because I plan to sleep untill 6. Both of them are actully looking forward to the start of school. And I am as well. I am ready to get back to the normal everyday schedule.

I have 2 new finished projects to share with you! Yay!!! I had to take a break from the afghans. So I picked up some quick and easy projects to work on. :) I made my daughter a new hat and she loves it allready. She hasn't even taken it off yet. :) This hat is an original design by Danyel Pink of Crazysocks crochet. You can find the pattern here. The pattern is well written and easy to understand. For Kyra's hat; I did leave out the eyes and beak. She just wanted it plain in the pink and brown. :)

And yes! I did mention Owls!! This pattern is originally an owl hat pattern. My first one was made following the pattern completly. And here it is!! Sooo cute. I know that I will be making some more of these cute hats.

Since this hat was made for a baby, I do not have a model for it. This one will be traveling to Ak where my nephew lives. He was born this past Feb. Since it gets really cold in Ak, I think he will get a lot of use of this hat.

Quietly Moving forward

Sitting here listening to the Thunder quietly rumbeling. I can here it out there softly in the distance. But yet, when I look outside it looks cloudy and sunny. We had a pretty bad storm really late last night, or early this morning depending on how you look at it. (was 3:30 am) It sounded like the Thunder was banging on the roof of our house. And you could here the lightening sizzle as it struck out in the night/early morning sky.

And here again you can see the cloudy/sunny skies. But it sounds like the Thunder is moving a little bit closer. I do wish the rain would arrive. I love listening to the rain drops splash on the roof top.

Just sharing a few pictures from our front lawn. For my friends that don't know, we bought a new house last Oct. Was such a fun and exciting time for us. We have been enjoying it very much. We waited this year to decide on what type of yard work improvments we would like to make. As the previous owner obviously liked flowers. So we wanted to figure out what we had. So looks like next spring will be a fun time of working outside and making some changes.

And here it is. A crumpeled mess.... LOL! I just kind of dropped the afghan and took a picture just for the fun of it. :) I have only added about 4 rows since the last time I posted a picture of it.

And here it is spread out to show you the pattern of the colors. :) It is 62 inches wide and currently 29 inches in length. I am thinking about making it around 70-72 inches in length.

Playing with color

A little butterfly came out to play in the backyard yesterday. :) Poor little guy is missing part of one of his wings.

He is hanging out on one of our birdfeeders :)

While I was out, I took another picture of one of our trees. I just love the color in this tree. :)

And now that the baby afghan is finshed and ready to give,I can work with some colors. I pulled out one of my ripples to work on again. I love the fun and bright colors in this one. I havn't had much time to add too many rows to it yet. And its looking like we will have a really busy weekend. We have a "Hello 7th graders and Goodbye Seniors" party today. We have 2 youth that graduated this year and will be leaving for College this coming week. One of them is heading all the way to Texas.

Ta Daaaa!!

Yay!! The baby afghan is finished. But, I ended up not following the pattern. I changed the edging on it.
I had started out making it with the pattern it called for, but decided I didn't like it that much. It is a beautiful afghan pattern. But it seems more geared torwards a girl with the ribbon edging. So since this is going to be for a boy, I changed it up. I did a DC and then finished it with the crab stitch.

I hope that you can see the border in this picture. Its hard to get a good shot of this afghan.

And here it is, all done. :) Now to wrap it up and give it to mom and dad for their new baby. :)

Here is my beautiful daughter. :) She is sitting there doing her favorite thing. LOL! Can you guess what that is?

No, I am still not done with the baby afghan. But I have made some progress on it. I only need another dozen or so rows. Then I will put on the border. I still have not decided on a color for the ribbon.

I love this color. :) It is Ivory. I hope the parents will also love it.

This is another afghan I had been working on. Although this one is allready finished. It is just a medium sized Granny square style afghan.

Back to school shopping

We got up and hit the road earlier this morning. It is tax free weekend here in the Carolinas.... So we did our back to school shopping. We went to the Outlet Mall in SC. They had some really great deals as well as Tax free.
We went to Skechers to get some new shoes, which were on sale. Buy one pair, get second pair half off. We actully ended up with 3 pairs. Kyra found 2 cute pairs of Tennis shoes for 20.00 each.
Sean found one pair that he really liked.
We went to Aeropostale which is Kyra's favorite store. There she found a some nice jeans that were normally 40.00, but were on sale for 50% off. And then she found the shirts. LOL! They had a lot of shirts on sale for 8.99. So she was very pleased with her finds there. :) Sean on the other hand only found one outfit there that he really liked. He grabbed a nice tshirt and a long sleeve button down shirt to go with it. And he grabbed some jeans that he liked. Sean still had money left to spend so we went to Rue 21 where he found some nice tshirts. So, the kids had a great time picking out there school cloths..And are ready to go back to school. Although we still have 2 weeks before it actully starts. Even though we did find some really great deals there, we still have more things to get. But that will have to wait untill school actully starts. We need to get the real "School supply lists". I allready picked up a bunch of things I know they will need. But hopfully there isn't too much more that will be on the lists.

The baby afghan is still not done. But I am getting closer. I am just past the halfway point on the main part of the afghan. Then I will add the border. I am still deciding on the ribbon to add in the edging. Since it is for a baby boy..... I am considering a blue,yellow, green or brown ribbon. Started Over

Well, I decided I was not happy with my first go on the baby afghan. So I ripped it out and have started over. I also found I had made a mistake. I tried to fix the mistake, but it just made it look funny. So here is a new start on it. when I started it this time, I also used a bigger hook. It seems to be laying much flatter this time.

And here is another shot. A little bit of a closer view.

And here is another shot of the finished Scarecrow. :) I havn't decided what to do with him yet. I may give him away or hang onto him and use him in some sort of a decoration for Halloween.

Today started out really hot. But we had a storm come through and it cooled it down outside. Tomorrows forcasted high for us is only 90.... Today it was 96 with a heat index of 105-110. It was a hot one!
Time to get back to work on the baby afghan. Only another 18 days to get it finished......

I tested a pattern out for a friend. It turned out cute. :) It is a Scare Crow Pumpkin. For those that crochet, the pattern should be avaliable soon in Dianes Etsy shop.

Here he is almost done. :)

Finally finished. Overall it only took a couple of hours to make this cute little guy. :)

Here is an update picture of the baby afghan. As you can see I didn't make too much progress on it. I worked on the Scarecrow pumpkin yesterday. So now it is time to get back to work on this afghan. The edges on this one are curling up some. So I am hoping that the edging will fix that issue. If not, I guess I will need to rip it out and figure out something else.

And one last note: For the person that stopped by and asked about the Round Ripple. I was unable to email you a reply as it did not save your email address. So I am posting a link here for a pattern to a Round Ripple.

Round Ripple Afghan

I have a friend who is going to have a baby in Oct. They are having a boy and this is their first baby. I started working on a baby blanket for them last night. I had meant to get started on it earlier, but had been busy working on other projects. Now, I am running out of time. The baby shower is on Aug 22nd. So I only have 20 days to get this done. Here is a link to the pattern that I am using for this blanket. I am not sure if I will follow the pattern exactly. I am thinking about changing the edging up some from what she has.

Here is a close up to show you the stitches. I am using Hobby Lobbys, I Love This Yarn for this afghan. It is really soft, and seems to hold up pretty good. The color is "Ivory".

Here is the Bold and Bright Ripple. I have not put much time into recently.

And here is the other Ripple. I did add a few more rows to it since the last time I posted about it.I am over halfway done on this one now.

We had a pretty busy weekend this past weekend. The kids had movie night at church on Sat. They watched 2 movies and had pizza. Our Youth Pastor tends to keep the kids quite active. :) The little kids will be going to the Zoo on Wednesday.

Fun Ripple Update and Bold/Bright Ripple :)

So here we are.. A new picture of my fun colors ripple. This one is now halfway done. :) I will be so happy when it is finally finished. When this one is finished I will be selling it in my Etsy shop. :)

And here we have the newest ripple. This is my bold and bright ripple. I like the way these colors work together and make a statement at the same time. :) After the blue, I added some more white. I will be repeating the pattern once I finish with the white.

I am hoping to have both afghans done by the end of Aug.The kids go back to school the 3rd week of Aug, so I will have more time to get things done when they are in school. Its hard to believe our summer break is almost over.

A beautiful Day

We are finally having a beautiful day! One that we aren't in the upper 90's and low 100's. So I was able to spend some time outside and get a few new photos. This photo here is our Creepe Myrtle Tree.The blooms on it are so pretty. We also have a white one that I did not get photos of.

Here is another photo of the Creepe Myrtle. Although aiming the camara into the sun made for a blurry photo.

I finally figured out that we have a Pear Tree. We had originally thought it was an Apple Tree. But we were wrong. The Pears are getting to be a good size now and taste really good. I picked my first one yesterday and grabbed another one this afternoon while I was outside.

This plant has seen some better days. I was actully surprised to see a little bud on it again.

I found this under one of the bigger trees. Looks rather ugly......

No new updated pictures of my ripple afghan today. I did add a few more rows to it since the last picture I posted. I have alsoe started up another one in some more bold/bright colors. This one will not be as big as the other one is. I will post pictures of it when I have made some more progress on it. And I will be posting more pictures of the other ripple afghan soon as well.

Ripple Afghan I am working on

Here is a new picture of my ripple. I am really pleased with this one. :)

This ripple is now almost halfway done. I had to run to the store to pick up some more of the colors I am using in it. I should be good to finish it now. When finished this one should fit a full sized bed.

This is one of my flowers from earlier this spring.

The last few weeks have been really hot here, upper 90's and low 100's. Today was the first day we did not have a heat advisory in 5 days.. They keep telling us that we have a chance for storms, but so far it is still dry. Hopefully we will get some rain soon.

Strawberry Jam and Ripple Afghan

I made homemade Strawberry Jam for the first time yesterday. It was so much easier that I had thought it would be. And it tastes really good too. I had it on toast this morning. Yum!!!

Here is another picture from camp. This is just before we left. Kyra, Julie and Shelby walked together to the van. The three of them really found a connection and are good friends now. We do plan to go back again next year. Although we don't know if Julie will be there again. As her plans are to go back to Kenya as soon as she can.

Here is a picture from our Summer Camp program at church. The kids are working on putting there clues together to say the bible verse they learned that night. Such a fun program that Drew is running with the children this year. Although this is one of the more tame nights. Last week was Slime Time. LOL! That was a fun mess. :) The kids loved it.

And here is Noah. He is playing with one of his toys. Most of his toys do not last very long here. He loves to shred them as fast as he gets them. So we are always on the lookout for good strong toys that he can't shred.

It has been really hot here latly. Todays high is 97 with a heat index of 105. And it is looking to be the same again tomorrow. Would really like to get a nice cooling rainstorm here. But it looks like it will be next week sometime if the weatherman is right.

I don't have any new pictures of the ripple afghan yet; maybe tommorow. Have a great day everyone, stay cool :)

Here is an updated photo of yet another ripple afghan I am making. I have all the colors I will be using in this one now.I am doing 2 rows of each color and then 4 rows of the white. My plan is toreverse the color sequence after adding the white each time. We shall see how it looks when it is finally finished. I have also picked up some more yarn for a couple more ripple afghans. Bob helped me pick out some bright and fun colors for one of them.

Here is one of the fun pictures from the last day at camp. We were really sad it was time to go, but made the best of it. Julie, in the grey shirt was the girls councelor. She is a really sweet person. She was born in the USA, but has lived in Kenya Africa for most of her life. She is here now working at Snowbird for the summer and will be heading back to school in the fall. She is attending Liberty and studying to become her nurse. Her ultimate goal is to go back to Kenya as a Missionary.

And here we have Brody. He was our speaker in the evenings at camp. He has a really great gift. :) We enjoyed listening to him. I posted both pictures so that everyone could see how he cuts his hair. He has had that cross for 10 years now. :) He is standing in the water because he was getting ready to Baptise a young lady.

Home Again

I was able to spend a week with our youth group at Summer Camp. We went to Snowbird in Andrews NC. It is a beautiful camp. I enjoyed my time there with some of our kids. Our first day was pretty relaxing. We did an introduction to the camp, then had free time to unpack. Went to dinner and then had evening service with Brody. What an amazing speaker he is.
Tuesday was our first off campous Recreation day. I went with the kids to Deep Creek Tubing.
It was pretty fun, except falling off my tube in the waterfall. Then I slid down the rocks because the water was pushing so fast. I came back with a lot of new bruises.
Wednesday was our Missions day, we were able to go visit at a local Nursing home. We talked with many of the people there and also was able to play Bingo with them. I really enjoyed talking to them. Some of my favorite people there was Mary and Dennis, or as he called himself, Deneese.Such sweet people. :)
Thursday we went White Water Rafting down the Nanahali River. The water was only 45*. It was so cold. But if you said the words, cold, freezing, you were sure to be thrown in the water. Luckily we made it down the 3 hour ride without anyone falling out... BUT! We did have a few get pulled out. LOL!
Friday was our on campus day, which was pretty easy going. They offer a lot of fun things to do on campus as well. Bob, (my husband) went on the zipline as well as a lot of the kids. :) I have posted a lot of pictures on my facebook page, with many more to come.

Here is a picture of one of the views we had while we were there. Such a beautiful place. I miss being there. But I sure do like sleeping in my own bed again.

We have been having a really great time at VBS this week. I have been helping out with the crafts and the kids have enjoyed them so much. They will be taking home some really cute things this year. My two favorite crafts so far have been the Cricket sticks and the Bandana Necklaces. So cute :) Tonight they will be making some Memory Verse books. :)

Here is My Sean.... He is always makign some type of a face. LOL! He dosn't really like getting his picture taken. But, I love taking pictures so I am always catching some funny and crazy photos of him.

And here is Ms. Kyra.... She on the other hand, loves to have her picture taken. She has her own digital camara and is always taking pictures of herself.... She turned 13 this year, so we have another teenager in the house. And boy does she let you know she is a teen now.......

And finally here is a project that Kyra is working on. She is making her very own afghan. She is doing really good so far. :)

Back Again

I had a good visit with my sister. It was nice having her here for awhile. Took her out shopping a lot. :) I was able to show her how to to the straight Granny stitch, so she is now working on a new afghan. She bought some really nice colors to work on it with. I can't wait to see the finished product when she is done with it.

Above you can see the progress on my Ripple afghan I have been working on. It is almost done now. It is actully folded in half in this picture.I am working on the light rose color right now; next will be the green and yellow, with the aran in betwenn the colors. I will be finishing it with the dark rose that I started it with.

My sister is here for a visit. I havn't seen her in 4 years. She will be here for 2 weeks. Glad to have some family out here for a visit. Took her shopping earlier and she found some cute NC shirts to take home with her. And later this week we are hoping to find a hat for her husband. :)

Here is an updated picture of the Granny Stripes afghan I just started. I am using RH yarn in Aran, Navy, Coffee, blue and Cafe. This one is moving along well.

Here is the latest on the Ripple afghan. I have added all the colors and I am now working on repeating the colors. I think once I add all the colors again it will be a decent length. I may end it with the Darker rose color.

Schools out, New Picture of Ripple Afghan

Here is the latest picture of the ripple afghan. It is coming along quite nice. I have one more color to add and then I will be repating the color pattern in the same order. It is 68 inches wide and about 30 inches long. I think after the second pattern repeat I will end it with a final row of the dusty rose that I started with.

Today was the last day of school. I picked Kyra up at 11:30 and we went to the library so she could get some new books to read. After that we went to McDonalds for lunch. That seems to have become a tradition on the last day. I go and pick her up and we wait in the long crazy line to eat at McD's. Sean got a ride home from a friend. He was about an hour after Kyra. So we had to run back up to McD's so he could get something for lunch too. :) And now both of them are sleeping the afternoon away. LOL!

And here is Noah... Guess he decided since his kids are sleeping he should take a nap too.

I have been workign right along on my ripple afghan. I am finishing up the last row of Aran now and then I will be adding Rose Pink next. I am really enjoying the way this afghan is looking. After the Rose pink color is added I have a pale yellow and frosty green color to add. Then I will be repeating those colors. When I finish this afghan I will be starting on a granny stripe afghan. I think I will try and use up more of my scrap yarn I have all over the place. :)

Yesterday was Seans last full day at school for this year. He was pretty tired when he got home and fell asleep. He has 2 more half days and this year is finished.

This is Noah. We adopted him about a month or so ago. He has been a lot of fun. Loves to play.

And has shredded several toys allready. If you look closly in the corner is one of his toys he had just tore apart.

Ripple Progress

These are the last of the colors I have left for the ripple afghan I am working on. Once I add these colors, I will just repeat untill I get the aghan to the right length.

Here is my progress on the ripple afghan as of last night. This morning I added the rest of the aran. I am doing 3 rows of each color. I have not decided yet what color to do next.

We had a really nice weekend. Kyra finished out her softball season. Her team took 3rd place this year. They did a great job and had a lot of fun. Looking forward to next year.

This year has been a tough year for the team as a whole, but they have played hard and good. :)

Kyra has improved so much. She is now hitting the ball more regularly. This weekend is the tournaments and the end of the regular season for softball. We sure will miss the games. I made a lot of great friends with the team parents this year. Will hopfully see them again next year. :)

Oh! And if you didn't notice, my daughter decided to change her hair color. So for her 13th birthday we let her get it dyed. She picked out a really nice dark brown color. She loves it. What is funny is when we went to church after it was done........ One of our friends was looking all over the place for Kyra. (She was there) She came up and asked us where was Kyra, and when I pointed her out, she was quite surprised. LOL! She said, I thought that was someone new here.

So far everyone seems to like her hair. It did take a little getting used to at first.

Shaking off the Dust!

Wow! Has it really been that long? I can't believe it. I completly forgot about keeping this blog updated. Things have been really busy around here. We bought a new house in Oct, and we are still trying to get all unpacked. We have also been busy with Softball games and practices. Unfortunatly softball season is almost over. This weekend is the last weekend. We will miss softball when it is done. Kyra has gotten a lot better this year, and is hitting the ball much better now. :)

We have also been busy with a lot of youth activities at church. Our new Youth Minister sure knows how to keep them active :)

In the picture above is a new afghan I have started. I am going to try and use up some more of my scrap skeins of yarn. My goal is to clean out some of these rubber maid totes that are full of yarn. So far in this one I have used the colors Dusty Rose, Aran and light sage green. I also have Orchid to add next and then pale yellow. My plan is to seperate the colors with the Aran in between each color.

I have finally started a new Round ripple afghan.

I havn't gotten very far on it yet. I am using the colors, Soft white, Cornmeal and Gold.

Kyra just cut off 10 inches of hair. She is donating her hair to locks of love. Above is the results after the haircut. :)

With the warmer weather here and the kids being home from school. I have found that I have not been spending as much time as blogging. I am still here, just a little bit on the quiet side. So many different things going on right now.
I hope to get back to a more regular schedule of bloggin when school starts back up in 5 weeks. :) I hope that everyone is having a wonderful summer :)

While my mom was here last week she showed me how to knit. So above you see my first official finished knit piece. I know, my ends are still hanging out and its not exactly straight. But I am happy to have finally done something with knit. Thanks mom for showing me how.

Here is the start to another knit item. My mom wrote out a dishcloth pattern for me before she had to leave. I had to start over a couple of times on this one, but I think I have it now. Excpet there is a missed stitch on it allready. Thats ok though.
I am working with Peaches and Cream cotton and size 8 needles

And here we have a crazy looking pile of pouches. Well a few piles. LOL!

Over there in the top corner with the pink one on top is a stack of finished pouches. The others are just waiting for me to sew them.
