A beautiful Day

We are finally having a beautiful day! One that we aren't in the upper 90's and low 100's. So I was able to spend some time outside and get a few new photos. This photo here is our Creepe Myrtle Tree.The blooms on it are so pretty. We also have a white one that I did not get photos of.

Here is another photo of the Creepe Myrtle. Although aiming the camara into the sun made for a blurry photo.

  I finally figured out that we have a Pear Tree. We had originally thought it was an Apple Tree. But we were wrong.  The Pears are getting to be a good size now and taste really good. I picked my first one yesterday and grabbed another one this afternoon while I was outside.

  This tree is right next to the Pear Tree. I am not sure what it is.

This plant has seen some better days. I was actully surprised to see a little bud on it again.

  I found this under one of the bigger trees. Looks rather ugly......

And since I was outside, I thought I would get a shot of Lucky.

 No new updated pictures of my ripple afghan today. I did add a few more rows to it since the last picture I posted. I have alsoe started up another one in some more bold/bright colors. This one will not be as big as the other one is. I will post pictures of it when I have made some more progress on it. And I will be posting more pictures of the other ripple afghan soon as well.

Before the Rain

Our New Toy

You would think with having 3 acres we would have bought one of these a long time ago. But no, we just bought this one and had it delivered on Monday. Now everyone wants to mow the lawn. :) Before everyone cringed at the thought of mowing.

Anyway, Kyra was thrilled to finally get to take her turn. :)

I was experimenting with different settings on my camara. So I took some pictures of some of the birds that visit our place. :)

Cold, Cold Cold!!

Someone has seriously pulled the plug on the heat here! No joke on that one either. We had noticed a huge increase in our electric bill, and the house was just not that warm. (The bill had tripeled from the previous month) So we called the Electric company to see if we could figure out what was wrong. We had just had our furnace seviced 2 months ago. They came out to look and guess what we found???? A hole in the door to get under the house. A cat had gotten in there and pulled down the duct work for the heat pump. So while we were freezing in the house, there were cats bathing in the heat under the house. Litterally, it was 70 degrees under the house. No wonder the floors have been so warm latly. Well, we fixed that hole, and the duct work. YAY! It is now nice and comfortable in the house. I am soo glad it is fixed now too as we are suppose to drop down to 5 degrees tonight. And that is not normal for us here. Way too cold for me. hope everyone else is staying nice and warm.

I finished the Toffee Lacy scarf. It is 3.5 inches wide and 59 inches long. I havn't decided what color I would like to do next yet. Before I get started on that, I have about 5 more orders to finish up in my shop. I am hoping to have them all done and ready to go on Tuesday. :)

Playing in the Leaves

We had a beautiful Thanksgiving Day. We spent part of it outside playing in the leaves. :)

Mountains to the Sea Trail

Ok so Saturday we decided to head for the mountains. Its was the perfect time to see some of the beautiful fall colors. While up there, we decided to take what we had thought was going to be a short-to medium hike.



It was nice to see all the pretty leaves. :) And the weather was perfect. See the blue circle on the tree? That was a marker for our path we were going to take.



We went in the direction of the loop via the mountains.





A couple of pretty views that we saw.



From this point our markers turned white. There was another sign that pointed to the Devils Courthouse. We went in that direction. There wasn't a distance listed for us though. Hmmmmm How far from there would that be?????

We didn't make it to the Devils Courthouse. We walked around 2 miles before turning around and coming back. It was a fun walk.

When we got back to the starting point, we found out that it would have been around a 20 mile walk to the Devils Courthouse from that point. That would have been a long walk.
I will post some more pictures of the Fall colors later. We still have plenty more of the pretty colors seen on Blue Ridge Parkway.

New Colors

The fall colors are getting prettier everyday here. Here is a new picture of the driveway.

Snow in NC. In Oct????

That is my view everymorning. Its been fun watching the color come in. This picture was taken yesterday, before it got cold. It started out pretty nice here, but as the day moved on, the heat went out. We dropped down into the 30's last night, and they predicted snow. WHAT!! Snow in Oct in NC?? Now we didn't get any snow down here in the Piedmont. They were talking snow up in the mountains. Even in the mountains this is too early for snow. But all the ski fans are excited. :)





I received a new order of Peaches and Cream cotton yesterday. So I will be making many more dishcloths, and pouches. The picture above shows the different colors that I received. That is not all that I bought though. I have duplicates of all of those. :)



Uh Oh!! I started a new afghan.(Joansie, I am running and hiding now. I really have lost count as to how many projects I am working on) I figure now that it is getting colder it was time to work on another one. Right now I am using the green from Jareds Ripple that I finished. I should have enough of this color to do about 1/3rd of the afghan. So I need to figure out a couple more colors to add to it.
I am using the box stitch to make this one. Thanks to seeing the pretty afghan that Tara had made over at Faith Acre Farm. I just had to make one.
I will be posting some new pictures of the slippers I am working on soon. :) I don't have a currant picture right now. But they will be done soon. I just need to finish up 2 more of my large bath and shower puffs first. :)
